Job Opportunity: Interim Project Manager for Consortium for the Demonstration of Intelligent Systems

The Consortium for the Demonstration of Intelligent Systems project (CDIS) is a West Midlands Combined Authority innovation proposal. The aim of the proposal to bring together regional expertise to develop and apply intelligent/smart systems technology and approaches to solving real and substantial challenges faced by the Public and Private sector.   • To support the development of the Full Business Case (FBC) in line with the WMCA Assurance Framework.
  • To liaise with and manage external consultants delivering appropriate economic evidence, governance and legal guidance, etc.
  • To liaise with core partners and existing innovation ecosystem structures to solicit views on potential CDIS projects.
  • To act as a spokesperson for CDIS with potential partners and the Innovation Alliance Steering Group.
  • To begin the set up and implementation of the governance structures recommended by external consultants.
  • To set up appropriate financial management practices.
  • To manage the submission of the FBC for approval by various boards and groups of the WMCA, in line with the Assurance Framework.
  • The post holder will be a member of the Innovation Alliance WM Executive team and will contribute to and benefit from the experience and other activities of the team, as appropriate.
Person Specification

This role requires someone with:

  • A sound knowledge and understanding of innovation drivers (Public and Private sector), policy and funding in the UK.
  • Experience of developing and/or managing large multi-partner projects, with partners from a wide range of backgrounds and sectors.
  • Experience of bidding for and managing public funds at scale; experience of Green Book is desirable.
  • An understanding of local economic development issues; experience in the West Midlands context is desirable.
  • Relevant project management experience including establishing governance structures, monitoring and reporting, and financial management.
  • Tenacity and excellent communication, teamworking and networking skills.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Intelligent/ Smart Systems or contributing technologies and knowledge is desirable.
