Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council are looking to appoint a Group Manager to lead on climate change and sustainability, building on the Council’s reputation as an exemplar authority for sustainable energy initiatives, delivering key elements of the Council’s response to the Climate Change emergency and meeting the target for Solihull to be net zero carbon by 2030 as a council and by 2041 as a borough.
As Group Manager you will act as the lead specialist, engaging with key stakeholders, businesses and community groups to promote climate change and sustainability initiatives within the Borough. You will have responsibility for implementing the Council’s adopted Net Zero Action Plan, leading Solihull’s engagement with partners, including the West Midlands Combined Authority and the Solihull Climate Commission, on matters relating to climate change and leading the sustainability strands of our new economic strategy as well as seeking out funding opportunities and generating income for the implementation of climate change and sustainability initiatives. To succeed in the role, it is expected you will have significant relevant experience and knowledge in the field of climate change and sustainability. You will have experience of developing and delivering strategies and have a flair for partnership working, able to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills, previous strategic programme management experience with a track record of producing funding strategies for a wide range of initiatives and projects.
