Nominations for the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coast Excellence Awards and The Women in Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Awards are now open!
Here is your opportunity to put forward a colleague, community or initiative and celebrate with reward and recognition those who are doing amazing work in the flood and coastal risk management sector.
Awards will be presented at the Flood and Coast gala dinner and awards ceremony on 05 June 2024 at the Telford International Centre.
Environment Agency’s Flood and Coast Excellence Awards 2024 now open!
Do you have a project or innovation that manages flood risk, improves local flood resilience or adapts to the risks in a changing climate? If so, then get the recognition you and your teams deserve by submitting an application by 31 January 2024.
The prestigious awards provide a fantastic opportunity to promote the recent work and innovations happening across the flood and coastal community.
The categories for 2024 are:
- Climate Resilient Places
- Climate Resilient Blue and Green Infrastructure
- Climate Resilient Built Environment
- Community Action
- Digital Excellence
- Innovation and Resilience
- Early Career Professional
Who can apply?:
The Flood and Coast Excellence Awards are open to any project, scheme or initiative that has contributed to managing and building resilience to flooding and coastal erosion.
This could be:
- a single enterprise
- a partnership involving consultants
- contractors
- risk management authorities
- a community-level initiative
To be eligible, the project, scheme or initiative must have been completed or implemented between 01 January 2023 – 31 December 2023.
For work to be considered ‘complete’ or ‘implemented’, it must show that it provided or continues to provide an active benefit for people and the environment. There are no restrictions on the geographical location of the nominations submitted.
The awards will also recognise an inspirational individual in their early career within the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) community pursuing the goals of climate resilience places. You may nominate someone else or yourself for this award.
Women in FCERM Awards 2024 are now open!
Launched in 2019, professionals of all genders and organisations in the FCERM sector, who make a real difference to gender equality in the workplace and across the industry, have been celebrated.
The three categories for 2024 are:
Rising Star Award:
An individual who is in the earlier stages of their career in FCERM who, over the past year (January to December 2023), has proactively influenced and promoted gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
This might be an individual who is at a more junior grade, where their influence may mainly be felt within their own organisation.

Equality Leadership Award:
An experienced individual who, over the past year (January to December 2023), has proactively influenced and promoted gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
This might be an individual who operates at a senior level and their influence and impact has been felt across the FCERM sector.

The Laura Baird Special Recognition Award:
In memory of Laura who passed away in 2022. This award recognises an individual who, throughout their career, has been and continues to be, an outstanding role model to all those around them.

Inspiring individuals of all genders and stages of their careers within the FCERM sector, are sought. The award submission should demonstrate what the individual has done to truly champion gender equality, diversity and inclusion and inspire others.
Please note that an individual can ONLY be entered into one of the categories.
An award for each category will be presented to each winner at the Flood and Coast Conference Excellence Awards’ Dinner in early June 2024 at the Telford International Centre.
