Professor Dame Julia King has been presented with her DBE at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace
Professor Julia King, SWM Board Member and Green Leader, has received a DBE for services to education and technology in the Queen’s Birthday honours. She was presented with the Award by Her Majesty the Queen, at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 21 November.
Professor King has been the Vice-Chancellor of Aston University since December 2006, is a member of the Board of Universities UK and Chair of the Higher Education Statistics Agency, as well as Non-Executive Director of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
She is frequently called upon to advise Government on education and technology issues, and was appointed by the Prime Mister as the UK’s Low Carbon Business Ambassador in November 2010.
Speaking about her honour, Julia King said; “I am passionate about engineering, technology and higher education, so it was an extremely great privilege to receive this honour. It’s both recognition for myself and for Aston University and its ethos of combining research with strong links to industry, government and commerce. I was particularly delighted to receive the letter recommending me for a DBE in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.”
