SWM member, Midcounties Co-operative, have won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainability. In fact, three of the twelve awards for Enterprise for Sustainability went to West Midlands firms this year. Congratulations also go to Jaguar Land Rover and Matrix Housing Partnership. Midcounties have been a long standing member of Sustainability West Midlands. For several years, we have provided an independent sustainability and resilience review on their annual social responsibility reporting and, over time, have help them integrate and report this as a key part of their business. Our Chief Executive, Simon Slater, said, “We are delighted that the Midcounties Co-operative has been recognised by this presigious Enterprise for Sustainability award for implementing a social responsibility programme that has resulted in placing sustainability at the heart of its operations. We know Midcounties are committed to continuous improvement and will want to do more, but this a great milestone to celebrate.” There are also another nine local winners in other catogories, such as innovation.
