Sben legislative update Summer 2020

Sben has recently released their Summer 2020 legislative update.

Key messages

  • Change in Requirements for Safety Data Sheets: for organisations who create safety data sheets as part of their business, there may be changes to what is required to be on them, from January 2021.
  • Perfluorooctanoic Acid added to POPs Regulations: this Regulation amends the Recast Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation (EU) 2019/1021. The Regulation adds perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds, which are known carcinogens, to the list of chemicals that are prohibited and/or where the measures must be taken to eliminate their production, use, import and export.
  • Coronavirus Amendments to Town and Country Planning Regulations: the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure, Listed Buildings and Environmental Impact Assessment) (England) (Coronavirus) Amendment) Regulations 2020 have been set to accommodate for restrictions on movement.
  • Building Renovation and Reporting Regulations are Amended for the UK:  the Energy Efficiency (Building Renovation and Reporting) Regulations 2014 were amended on 24 June 2020. As part of EU requirements for improvement in energy efficiency, the UK must prepare a long-term building renovation strategy.
