Senior environmental consultant – Job Opportunity

Mott MacDonald environment team provides a wide range of specialist environmental support to internal and external clients and has an increasing workload across infrastructure and development sectors. As part of their strategic growth strategy, they are seeking an experienced environmental consultant to join a core team in the city centre Birmingham office. Recruiter: Mott MacDonald Location: Birmingham Working hours: Full time employment Job description: The Birmingham team are engaged in provision of support to both Public and Private sector clients across the region and nationally, offering a genuine variety of work, including opportunities in the road, rail and water sectors, with local authorities, energy sector and developers. This mix of projects will give you the opportunity to develop in new ways, and you will be part of helping achieve growth and realise your potential, by driving forward services to internal and external clients and helping to develop new business for the team. Candidate Specification

Your experience should be a good mixture of the following:
  • Degree in a relevant environmental subject (minimum of 2.1 classification), with further, post-graduate, qualifications desirable
  • Chartered Environmentalist, or nearing chartership, and a Full Member of a relevant professional institution such as CIWEM or IEMA
  • Relevant professional experience in the UK environmental consultancy market, with a strong external-facing, client-orientated approach
  • Strong knowledge of the planning system and EU and UK legislation of relevance to environmental planning and environmental management
  • Experience undertaking Environmental Impact Assessment, authoring Environmental Statement chapters. Experience in Sustainability Appraisal, Carbon Assessment and Natural Capital/Ecosystem Services is advantageous
  • Relevant experience connected with major infrastructure schemes
  • Experience in developing scope of work for environmental studies, contributing to bids and business development
  • Ability to work independently, take the initiative, make robust, defensible decisions and work to tight deadlines to meet client needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including writing and presenting
  • Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in the UK and internationally
