Southern Staffordshire Community Energy Community Energy Share Issue Launch
Southern Staffordshire Community Energy (SSCE) will be launching its first community share issue on Thursday 10th November. SSCE is a new co-operative which has been set up by WFEG and LoCaL (Low Carbon Lichfield) to develop community-owned renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to invest in solar energy on two of our area’s community buildings – St Giles Hospice and Whittington Village Hall. Both organisations have agreed in principle to lease their roofs to SSCE to install a total of nearly 60kWp of solar photovoltaic energy. SSCE will supply the electricity generated free to both charities, using the Feed-in Tariff to pay a return to shareholders, and generate a modest sum to support other energy projects. The installations are expected to save over 500 tonnes of carbon over their lifetime.
They are now looking to raise the c.£120,000 needed to purchase and install the panels through the share issue. The share issue will be open from 10th November until 16th December. The minimum shareholding will be £250 and the target rate of interest for shareholders will be announced at the launch where the SSCE prospectus will be available.
To find out more about how you can be part of this exciting project please come to one of the launch events:
