Leamington Spa based Gary Summers was named Midlands Entrepreneur of The Year at the Midlands Business Awards on 28 January. In front of a packed audience at Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole, the local businessman collected the award from TV Personality Kay Alexander.
The award recognised Gary’s success in 2010, which saw him successfully diversify SWM member facade contractor Alumet Systems into renewable technologies with a new division called EOS Energy, providing photovoltaic solar panels to both the commercial and domestic markets. The success of this expansion has seen the company recruit an additional 14 members of staff in the past 2 months and open a new indoor installers training roof.
Gary commented “I am delighted to receive this award, 2010 was a challenging year as the tough economic climate saw reduced spending budgets and margins across the industry. I’d like to thank the hard work of my team in ensuring that we made it through this difficult time. I look forward to 2011 with a great deal of excitement!”
