SWM have today published a report entitled ‘Review of operating options for Birmingham Environment Partnership: Lessons for the Green Commission.’ The purpose of the report is to provide lessons and examples to the Birmingham Green Commission, local authorities and local enterprise partnerships reviewing partnership structures to help deliver local climate change ambitions. While not exactly a catchy title – the report represents another example of SWM using it’s ten year track record and role as the independent sustainability adviser to the leaders in the West Midlands – to help leadership in local authorities, business, and the voluntary sector. One of the authors, Dr Simon Slater, commented: “We are constantly being approached to help advise local authorities and local enterprise partnerships on how to set up suitable local partnerships that will deliver value, attract and stretch resources, and help meet new requirements for new local and low carbon funding. To do this we draw on experience from our national network, Climate UK, and lessons from previous work. We thought it was only fair to share some of this from previously unpublished research and reviews that Birmingham had the foresight to commission with us 3 years ago- yet still hold valuable lessons today for the Green Commission and other local partnerships.” The report is available on the ‘Resources‘ section of our website.
