SWM welcome Tim Haywood as new Chair
At our AGM on Tuesday 28 November SWM welcomed Tim Haywood as our new chair as Peter Braithwaite stepped down after leading the organisation for five years.
Tim Haywood was Group Finance Director of FTSE250 Support Services and Construction Group Interserve Plc from 2010 until September 2017. Tim was appointed to the additional role of Head of Sustainability in 2011, having been inspired by his daughter’s experience as UNICEF’s UK ambassador to the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference. In recognition of his work in sustainability he was appointed HRH Prince of Wales’ Ambassador for Responsible Business in 2017. He is a Non-Executive Director and Audit Committee Chairman of media group Tarsus plc and an advisor to a number of charities including Groundwork UK.
Tim ended his executive corporate career to purchase and run Astley Vineyard in Worcestershire with his family.
Tim addressed delegates at our Annual Conference and AGM sharing his background and providing a vision for his role at SWM. We’re thrilled that he joins us as Chair and are looking forward to working with him and learning from his considerable expertise.
In relation to his new role, Tim says “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chair of SWM, a superb organisation that is making an important difference to the cause of sustainability in the region. I believe, under Anna’s continued and inspirational leadership, that SWM will go from strength to strength in the years to come, and I look forward to playing a part in the exciting journey. Sustainability is not a choice; it’s an imperative. There is no alternative. We must act. SWM will show the way.”
Our thanks go to Peter Braithwaite for his commitment and support to SWM over the last five years. Peter is endlessly positive and constructive and has lead the organisation through turbulent times for the sustainability sector. Despite the significant demands on his time, he has always made time to support SWM and he will be greatly missed.
