Verv partnership with Window Insulation Ltd on a pilot project at the Midlands Art Centre

Verv has partnered with Window Insulation Ltd (WIL) on a pilot project at the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) to increase Circular Carbon savings through their combined technologies.

Verv’s partnership with WIL and their thermal coating technologies bring novel benefits to building owners and asset managers: the combined technologies can help them extend the economic viability of their assets.

With the MAC, these technologies are being deployed in a two-stage project:

  • The first stage was the installation of Verv isolators onto a Solar PV inverter, their beer chiller refrigeration unit and a studio AC system.
  • WIL will then apply their thermal coatings to the above equipment, and Verve will report on the savings delivered in Q3 2024.

For the MAC, combining these technologies represents a truly unique opportunity, allowing them to remotely monitor the performance and efficiency of the Verv-connected assets, use Verv insights to make informed decisions on maintenance and repair, and optimise the utilisation of their assets to reduce energy waste while benefiting from the prevention of thermal inefficiencies through WIL’s globally trusted coatings.

With this equipment installed, they are benchmarking energy efficiency and consumption based on the following:

  • Max Liquid ceramic Insulation – HVAC units and Heatpump: Results will be reflection and insulation in summer, insulation in winter = providing ~ 20% equipment efficiency improvement.
  • Retrofit Window Coating – art school windows: overheating problem and energy saving solution.
  • PV Enhancer Coating: monitoring ran for a longer period, clean panels to gain refreshed benchmark, one month later reclean and apply PV coating. Results will be energy production increase, without losses over time due to soiling.
  • Future product innovation: WIL have products in development which can be applied under and around solar equipment to provide high level fire protection if there was ever an equipment fault. The system will also thermally insulate whole roof area. The solution is a special combination of products, to provide a system, applied to complex shapes and congested areas.

Daniel Thompson, Founder of Window Insulation Ltd, highlights the impact potential of this project:

“Birmingham has over 1900 non-domestic buildings with old, inefficient solar technology installed, together with Verv, we can restore and enhance these assets, further enabling Circular Carbon Savings by retrofitting, not replacing. And that’s just one of our products!”
