WM Contractor achieves highest BREEAM score

A West Midlands based contractor, Speller Metcalfe, has recently completed the highest scoring sustainable building in the world. Speller Metcalfe, who is well known throughout Worcestershire and Herefordshire, has been working alongside their project team to achieve the ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ score. BREEAM is an assessment method recognised world-wide for rating the sustainable value of non-domestic buildings, and the local construction company scored the highest mark ever recorded – 100.5% for a new depot built on behalf of their client Western Power Distribution. Explaining how such a score has been feasible, Adrian Speller, Environmental Manager at Speller Metcalfe said: “To reach over 100% seems somewhat impossible, but we have worked extremely hard to deliver over and above what was required in each category, which was actually done at very little additional cost to the project. “We hope this scheme – our tenth for Western Power Distribution – will be an example to businesses both large and small in what they can do to reduce carbon emissions and building running costs while having a positive impact on the environment and subsequently the local community.” For more information, please contact Sophie Turner, PR Officer on 01684 571200 or sophie.turner@spellermetcalfe.com.
