Director- Energy Capital

This is a unique opportunity to deliver a high-profile initiative of national significance at a time of major transformation in the energy sector. The West Midlands is working with Government, OFGEM, industry and local government partners to develop and implement a new model for devolved regions to take a leading role in the energy system transition. This role will be the senior executive responsible for delivering this agenda, building and leading the new institutions in the region necessary to turn this vision into reality.

Energy Infrastructure Lead – Energy Capital

We seek an experienced energy professional to build capacity and competence in energy infrastructure strategic planning and procurement at regional level. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong and effective working relationships with our key energy infrastructure providers (Western Power Distribution, Cadent Gas, and National Grid). Initially, the role will particularly support Transport for West Midlands and the constituent local authorities of the WMCA in ensuring the region adopts a coherent approach to developing an efficient and cost effective electrical infrastructure to support the rapid anticipated growth in electric vehicles (while still meeting the growing demands from housing and industry).

Support Officer- Energy Capital 

Energy Capital is a public private partnership created by WMCA and three Local Enterprise Partnerships to bring together key stakeholders in energy infrastructure across the West Midlands. You will be working with the Director of Energy Capital and its Energy Infrastructure Lead to support delivery of two projects: those of addressing fuel poverty through energy efficiency, and the strategy for ultra low emission vehicles. The role encompasses provision of secretariat services to Energy Capital’s Board and its Chair, Matthew Rhodes. The successful candidate will support engagement with colleagues in WMCA Directorates and within constituent local authorities, in addition to public and private sector organisations across the region and nationally.
