Planning for the Low Carbon Economy – Training for Officers and Members

We held an updated repeat session for Local Authority officers in central Birmingham on Thursday 29 November – full details can be found on our events page and the presentations are available to download from the right-hand side of this page.

As part of the West Midlands Local Authority Low Carbon Economy Programme, we have provided a series of capacity building events for Local Authority planning and development management officers and Planning Committee Members on renewable energy, low carbon technologies, climate change adaptation and related planning policies.

The events were intended to help authorities to develop planning policies, hold informed negotiations with developers, consult effectively with communities and make best determination of planning applications.

A summary of the support offer to West Midlands local authorities as well as all of the presentations from each of the sessions are available to download from the right-hand side of the page.

We have also produced a report review the planning policies of local authorities in the West Midlands available to download from the right-hand side of the page.
