Development & coordination of initiatives to stimulate low carbon jobs and skills

Our transition towards the low carbon economy will require organisations in the West Midlands to develop new ways of working. This includes improving the efficiency of existing products and diversifying into delivering new services.

In many areas the market is already responding. However in order to accelerate change, there needs to be improved coordination of initiatives to maximise impact. Research shows that businesses within the environmental sectors have grown significantly since the downturn, with further forecasts looking promising. There are strong market drivers such as rising energy and waste disposal costs, as well as reduction targets.

This priority is about coordinating the support and good practice we have that will deliver results: providing jobs and reducing carbon.
