Lead Organisation

Overview

Millboard is a family run business based in Coventry but with a global and expanding presence. Established in 1976, it marries British craftsmanship to the inspiration of nature – creating high quality, beautifully designed decking and cladding products manufactured in the UK. Millboard are members of SWM.

Millboard is signed up to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and has identified Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) appropriate to the four key areas of its business: Life, Living, Livelihood and Products.

In 2023, after attending the Green Advantage Programme delivered by Aston University Centre for Growth, Millboard developed their first Sustainability Roadmap with the aim of  articulating their approach to sustainability, capturing work done to date and plans for the future.

Millboard is keen to ensure that it is as transparent as possible about its activity, that its intentions are realistic – as part of a sustainable business model – and that it is continually reviewing efforts to ensure effective progress in the right areas. The Sustainability Roadmap will be reviewed and updated twice a year. A more focused Manufacturing Roadmap has also been created, based on the principles of sustainable manufacturing.

SWM are working with Millboard to provide support on sustainability across all areas of the business as an independent, critical friend. This includes the provision of a sustainability review and baseline, materiality assessment, development of a sustainability vision and policy, advice on governance and communications, and support in relation to resource efficiency and a more circular business model.
