Purpose of the presentations

The third ILCWG meeting of 2016, that we coordinate on behalf of Birmingham Science City (BSC), took place on 14 September 2016.  This meeting took place at the excellent iCentrum development next to Aston Science Park, where Andrew Page from Transport for West Midlands, gave an overview of the benefits of the iCentrum to them as a partner.  It allows for start up businesses to grow, innovate and solve problems for large organisations.

Claire Spencer then gave an update on Cliamte-KIC’s current priorities and work streams, including how ILCWG members can get involved.  Sean Farrell then talked about the excellent research going on at Staffordshire University on helping to reduce air pollution in prone areas, using green infrastructure, an electrostatic precipitator and video analytics.

Updates were then heard from members of the Science City Executive regarding the forthcoming Midlands Engine Science and Innovation Audit , an exercise which will help the government to determine where to invest in the patch in future, and the Consortium for the Demonstration for Intelligent Systems (CDIS), a Combined Authority-wide project aimed ultimately to help develop projects that will focus on intelligent systems involved sensors.  Key themes of this include energy and mobility.  All of the slides and notes from the meeting are available below.
