Purpose of the report

This report sets the priorities to achieve our vision for a sustainable West Midlands. We will continue to use these priorities in shaping our sustainability policy advice to leaders in the West Midlands, cross-sector events with our members to develop solutions, and sharing good practice.

Relevance to the West Midlands

To help the West Midlands become more sustainable this report:

  • provides the key milestones against which progress can be measured towards achieving SWM’s vision set out in the report ‘The low carbon vision for the West Midlands in 2020‘, based on the current baseline and activity;
  • prioritises actions which will help to deliver these milestones and Vision 2020, taking into account factors such as costs, ease of implementation, carbon and jobs benefits;
  • identifies where clearer or more supported leadership and partnership working is required to deliver the actions needed to make progress towards Vision 2020; and
  • provides SWM with an agenda to help inform policy and action.
