SWM News September 2017: Our Annual Conference

Our Comment: SWM Annual Conference 28 November 2017 - Delivering the West Midlands Combined Authority Sustainability Priorities

In early September, our work on setting out the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) environmental priorities for Councillor Harley, the new portfolio lead for the environment, was approved by the Mayor and a packed WMCA Board. The Mayor congratulated SWM on a ‘first class job.’ However, the reality is that this represents a team effort from many SWM partners, members and networks over the last two years.

Our Annual Conference on 28 November 2017 is the next opportunity to help shape delivery of the WMCA sustainability priorities.

Andy Street will share with us his aspirations for the region building on his 2020 aims. We'll also be running workshops where you can contribute to discussions about the sustainability priorities for the region and how we can drive delivery. Your input is critical!

We're also very excited that the winners of the Climate-KIC Birmingham City Energy Challenge will be announced as part of the conference. The Energy Challenge is an opportunity for entrepreneurs and visionaries to bring forward energy solutions that correspond to challenges in the West Midlands. The theme is “Innovations to engage customers and users as active participants in the regional energy system.” There are two prizes of €10,000 up for grabs.

Full details of the event and how to register are available on our website. We look forward to seeing you there.

Anna Bright, Chief Executive, on behalf of the SWM team.
