SWM News November 2019 - #SWMVision2030

Beloved SWM Newsletter readers, this is the penultimate newsletter for 2019 and with it comes a great opportunity. As many of you will know, we have been working on the Sustainability Roadmap for the West Midlands over the last year, designed to update our current Roadmap to 2020. This new Roadmap will look to 2030 and has been developed by consulting various literature and scrutinising policy, as well as rigorous stakeholder engagement at events such as the debut Summer Social and Air Quality: Breathing Our Last. The tool has been developed to work for the West Midlands to guide organisations, pressure government and be an influence for change. It can be used as a framework for organisations to help us achieve the overall regional vision designed to address the climate emergency we face. The development of the Roadmap has reached its final stage and we hope you are as excited as we are for the launch.

We are going to be unveiling the Roadmap to 2030 next Tuesday at our Annual Conference. The Conference, Vision 2030, will be an opportunity to hear from leaders and advocates for each of the eight Roadmap themes, explore these themes for yourself and discuss with others how your own organisations and projects can contribute to the success of the targets and hear the perspectives of a high-profile panel. We are also delighted that this year’s conference includes Wilmott Dixon as the headline sponsor.

Today is the final day to sign up, so if you haven’t done so already, register now! Remember, members of SWM get one free delegate space at the conference.

Tom Hendy, Sustainability Adviser, on behalf of the SWM Team
