Purpose of the report
This report aims to examine the economic benefits of recycling by considering the recycling industry in the context of building a ‘green economy’.
The report concludes that the recycling industry can improve the European economy by providing raw materials, creating jobs and encouraging business opportunities and innovation.
Relevance to the region
The West Midlands area will greatly benefit from raised awareness of the benefits of recycling and the jobs and business opportunities it provides.
What SWM liked
This report plays the important role of promoting behaviour which supports many aspects of the economy whilst addressing environmental needs. The widespread benefits of recycling deserve increased recognition if we are going to secure a greener economy for the future.
