About Us

SWM is the sustainability champion for the West Midlands. We are a not-for-profit company that works with our members in the private, public and third sectors. Our role is to act as a catalyst for change through our advice to leaders, to develop practical solutions with our members and to share success through our communications. Our customers like our independence, our role enabling collaboration across a range of sectors and our drive to deliver a clear vision to create a better West Midlands. Our board is private sector led with cross-sector representation and is supported by our team of staff and associates.

SWM’s Vision is to guide the West Midlands to become a leader in contributing to the national target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 whilst addressing health inequality and driving inclusive growth.

Using the Sustainability Roadmap to 2030, which we developed with the help of our members and stakeholders across the region, we will put pressure on, influence and support organisations to achieve real change in the West Midlands. We have set targets as a means to monitor and report on the change happening across the region. It is our aim to build on these targets and make more ambitious goals for the region and our role is to ensure our stakeholders can innovate, collaborate, share good practice and celebrate success so that these targets can be met.
