National Grid Community Matters Fund 2026 Is Open For Applications

£500,000 is available to support grassroots organisations helping people save money on their energy bills and stay warm this summer.

About the opportunity

National Grid’s Community Matters Fund has launched a new £500,000 funding round to support charitable organisaitons working to tackle fuel poverty and improve energy affordibility in their communities.

The fund is focused in projects supporting economically disadvantaged communities and under-represented and marginalised groups.

The fund is looking to support projects including:

  • Providing warm packs or energy efficiency measures such as warm blankets, insulated curtains and draught excluders
  • Visiting isolated households to help people make their homes warmer and more energy efficient
  • Running warm spaces in community buildings
  • Improving the energy efficiency of community buildings operating as warm spaces
  • Providing advice on energy saving, tariff switching, winter fuel discounts and fuel poverty support

Funding

Registered charities and non-profit companies limitied by guarantee can apply for up to £5000.

Constituted charitable organisations without a charity number can apply for up to £2000.

Eligible organisations must be based in the Midlands, South West of England, or South Wales

Application Window

Closes at 5pm on Friday 16 October 2026

Successful applicants will be informed by mid-November, with funding distributed before December. Projects must be delivered and funding spent by 31 March 2027.
