Ailsa is an SWM Associate.

Profile
Over the last (almost) 20 years I have enjoyed varied challenges across a wide range of sustainability sectors. From my roots in ecological management, and an early career focussing on local environmental quality issues, I then spent a number of years in regional bodies developing partnership work on climate change across the North West of England. Over the last 10 years I have continued this work independently supporting local authorities and other public and charitable sector organisations across the UK. I particularly enjoying supporting them to develop their ability to tackle both the mitigation of emissions and energy use and the challenge of adapting their communities, businesses and services to our changing climate.
Throughout this I have collaborated with, supported and admired the evolving work of Sustainability West Midlands and am now really pleased to be able to work directly together to further sustainable and well adapted growth in the West Midlands and beyond.
I particularly bring to SWM my skills in research, strategy development, adaptation planning, knowledge development and transfer, network and capacity development, event organisation and facilitation. My formal qualifications are degrees in Geography from Oxford University and Environmental Technology from Imperial.
Outside of work I enjoy time in the outdoors with my pets and little boy. I have a strong interest in rights of way and making nature accessible to all.
