Business Energy Advice Service (BEAS) 2025/26

Grants from £1,000 – £100,000 (50% match funded) available to WM SMEs for energy saving measures.

Apply by end of March 2026.

SMEs from the seven constituent local authorities of the WMCA, as well as Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the Marches can apply for grants up to 50% of eligible costs from £1,000 up to £100,000.

The grant funding can be used for a wide range of energy saving measures including:

  • solar panels – maximum £50,000 grant at a 50% intervention rate
  • ventilation systems – fans, distribution, destratification fans
  • heating upgrades – replacement boilers, burners, heat pumps
  • energy-efficient lighting – LED, controls, sensors
  • refrigeration improvements
  • insulation enhancements
  • recycling and waste management – compactors, balers, crushers
  • water management solutions

In order to claim this grant, all businesses must undertake an independent diagnostic energy assessment in order to qualify. Audits are available free of charge from Aston University or Pro-Enviro, and you can register for one here. If you have already had an assessment carried out by a qualified assessor in the past two years, this could be used as well.

Birmingham City Council are managing grants for businesses based in Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton. Coventry based businesses will need to apply for grants through Coventry City Council.
