The Roots & Routes Fund is a collaborative grant initiative aimed at supporting youth-led organisations in England that are actively engaged in climate justice efforts.
In its pilot phase, the fund offers one-year grants of up to £20,000 to eligible organisations. Eligibility criteria include being based in England, having at least 55% of leadership aged 18–30, and being led by individuals from communities most impacted by climate injustice or underrepresented in the climate sector. The fund encourages projects that empower young people to challenge oppressive systems, with a focus on long-term, systemic change. Activities may encompass advocacy, research, training, or specific initiatives, whether existing or in development. The fund is a partnership between the Blagrave Trust, Co-op Foundation, Energy Saving Trust Foundation, OVO Foundation, and Impatience Earth.
The principal aim is that young people feel empowered and supported in taking climate justice action in ways that are meaningful for them and their communities.
