Aston University and their leading Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute are long-standing SWM members.
Aston University is a long established research-led University known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry, government and commerce. Based in the centre of Birmingham, it is home to over 65,000 students and one of Europe’s liveliest and most welcoming cities. The University is committed to sustainability in all its operations (see a case study published in 2019 as an example) and has considerable expertise in sustainability research to support businesses and the public sector.
Innovative research and development of bioenergy technologies has taken place at Aston University for over 40 years and in 2008, the University’s bioenergy research capabilities were joined together to create the Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) – an Institute to deliver world-class bioenergy research and technology development.
Aston University has supported SWM for a long time and have hosted several of our events. EBRI is also a strong advocate for SWM and we have run many joint events with them over the years.
