Overview
With the increasing need for local authorities and their partners to support their communities in more innovative ways and for this support to be sustaining and beneficial for the long term, they need to think of ways to help communities help themselves in becoming more resilient to increasing extreme weather events.
SWM convened the Climate Resilient Communities Conference 2016, with support from the Environment Agency Intervention to provide an opportunity for local authorities, their partners and communities to benefit from national support available, collaboration and existing good practice.
Results
This conference allowed for a wide variety of audiences to come together to share good practice around developing community resilience schemes, the tools and support available to help and ask questions of experts in the room.
SWM are proud to report that 100% of delegates who completed an evaluation form considered the Conference to be excellent or good in terms of its organisation and content.

I was very surprised to see a community resilience theme at the forefront of a climate change conference.
