Overview
This project aimed to support the West Midlands Combined Authority to set up the WMCA Local Investment in Natural Capital (LINC) programme. This programme will drive private investment towards projects that seek to restore and improve the natural environment, and provide access to nature for a densly populated urban area. In particular the project aimed:
- To explore and demonstrate the potential for natural capital investment,
- To build the capacity, effective governance arrangements and capability of local leaders and partner organisations,
- To develop local ecosystem markets and investment/delivery mechanisms.
Outputs
The consortium as a whole provided the following outputs:
- Market research reporting
- Natural capital economic assessment
- Analysis of operating models and roles
- The delivery of two accelerators; one for Biodiversity Net Gain projects, and one developing an ‘urban greening token’.
- The natural capital project pipeline
- Natural capital funding framework
- Nature finance community of practice
- Communication products
- West Midlands Nature Investment Hub
