Michaela Cryar is Director of Younity, a joint venture between Octopus Energy and Our Coop that supports the growth of community-owned renewable energy across the UK.
Profile
Michaela has over 15 years’ experience in the energy sector across community energy, utilities and global energy markets. Prior to Younity, she worked at BP in strategy roles focused on power, sustainability and the energy transition, as well as earlier commercial roles in the UK energy market. She is passionate about the role of communities in delivering a fair and inclusive transition to net zero and has completed the Business Sustainability Management certification from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Michaela lives in the West Midlands and is committed to supporting the region’s transition to a greener and more inclusive economy.
As Director of Younity, she leads the organisation’s strategy, governance and commercial operations, working with one third of the UK community energy sector. She also oversees funding initiatives designed to help communities develop new renewable energy projects and strengthen the sector’s long-term growth.
