The Event

This SWM event will explore the underused but increasingly important role that anaerobic digestion can play in reducing carbon emissions and supporting a more circular economy. Bringing together local authorities, innovators, policy makers and business leaders, the event will look at where anaerobic digestion can make the biggest difference in the transition to net zero, including the role it can play in decarbonising transport, while sharing practical insights and case studies from organisations already making the most of AD.

The event will feature talks from speakers working across anaerobic digestion, alongside a panel discussion, audience Q&A and a chance to share and gain insights from other attendees during a roundtable discussion. There will also be networking opportunities, including refreshments and lunch.

Confirmed Speakers:

Tim Yair, Midlands Net Zero Hub

Tim has worked in a range of roles for local authorities and NGOs. Originally based on ecological and scientific principles gained through a degree in Environmental Biology, Tim has developed a broad sustainability, environmental and energy management knowledge. Since 2019, Tim has been working for the Midlands Net Zero Hub to support local authorities in the Marches to develop energy projects.

Grant Crawford, Bennamann Energy

Grant Crawford is a New Zealand national. Much of his early career history involved commercial roles in some well-known global companies that took him from Middlesex to the Middle East. However, an unexpected move into the agricultural sector six years ago changed that. His focus and passion is speaking with businesses about the practical, environmental, and social benefits that can be achieved from a renewable fuel strategy that incorporates methane power.

Paul Trickett, Iveco South West Truck and Van

Paul’s affair with all things environmental began in the workshop of one of the UK’s first privatised local authority contracts held by Exclusive Cleansing (latterly Biffa). Attending Cranfield Paul’s engineering background was always going to lead him towards a technical role in the transport industry. With over 20 years of technical-sales of heavy-commercial vehicles for DAF, MAN and Iveco, Paul has garnered a thorough knowledge encompassing current and future plans for bio-methane-fuelled transport applications with projects throughout the UK for blue-chip logistics and local authorities. Working alongside leading national CNG & LNG providers and AD operators wanting to upgrade their biogas for local users, Paul offers hauliers a realistic route in transitioning to alternative fuels.
