The Event
Whether you are exploring carbon insetting opportunities in your area or looking to understand the role of carbon removals within local net zero strategies, this webinar will provide valuable insights and examples from a pioneering regional programme.
The Midlands Net Zero Hub has been working with local authority partners and carbon removals specialists Klere to explore innovative, area-based carbon insetting solutions across the Midlands.
Building on the success of Shropshire Council’s pioneering demonstrator project, which uses pyrolysis to convert green waste into biochar and renewable energy while generating verified Carbon Removal Certificates (CORCs), the project has investigated how similar circular economy approaches could be developed and scaled across different local authority areas.
Through collaboration with four local authorities, the project has:
- Assessed local carbon insetting opportunities and feedstock availability.
- Developed tailored case studies and investable business cases.
- Explored governance models and potential joint venture structures.
- Contributed to emerging national guidance to support wider adoption of carbon insetting approaches.
As the project draws to a close, local authorities, Net Zero Hubs, policymakers, and other interested stakeholders are invited to join for a dissemination webinar where key findings, lessons learned, and practical insights from the programme will be shared.
