Community buildings, like village halls and community centres, can apply for grants of up to £4,000 from a programme set up by Thrive Renewables. Grants can cover improvements such as insulation, draught-proofing, LED lighting or improved heating controls. 2021 is the fifth year that this grant programme has run, and as usual a total of around £30,000 is available. Over the last few years the grants have been awarded to many buildings including community centres, village halls, a cricket pavilion and a youth centre. Improvements installed included loft insulation, new (more draught-proof) doors, water saving devices, energy efficient lighting and other insulation projects. Funding is available for renewable energy installations in buildings where the applicant can demonstrate that all reasonable energy efficiency improvements have been made. Full details here
