Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet) is committed to supporting the West Midlands’ journey to Net Zero 2050 through both the sustainable management of our estate and the education of future generations.

As one of the region’s largest further education providers, they recognise their responsibility to reduce the environmental impact while developing the skills and knowledge required for a low-carbon economy. They are delivering initiatives including energy efficiency improvements, LED lighting upgrades, low-carbon heating projects, EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy feasibility studies and the implementation of their sustainability strategy.

Through membership of Sustainability West Midlands, they want to collaborate with like-minded organisations, share best practice, learn from regional successes, and contribute their own experiences from managing a large and diverse educational estate. BMet are particularly keen to support initiatives that create measurable environmental, social and economic benefits for the communities they serve.

By embedding sustainability across both their operations and curriculum, they aim to help develop the skilled workforce needed to achieve the region’s Net Zero ambitions and create a more sustainable future for the West Midlands.
