West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) are recruiting a passionate Air Quality Lead: Apply by the 18th of January, 2026

WMCA’s air quality programme is well established, with a regional Air Quality Framework and a three-year plan approved in 2023. Now, they’re ready to push forwards and expand the impact of this work across the region

WMCA are looking for an experienced and motivated Air Quality Lead to guide the delivery of the West Midlands regional air quality programme. Overseeing the Air Quality Framework, managing key projects such as their regional sensor network and forecast system. Working closely with local authorities, health organisations, Defra, consultants and academic partners.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes initiative and is motivated to deliver projects that build healthier, more sustainable communities. Working closely with local authorities, health organisations, government agencies, and other partners to progress air quality initiatives, secure funding, and report on programme outcomes. This position requires strong project management skills, stakeholder engagement, and the technical expertise needed to deliver meaningful improvement across the region.
