Support in saving and making money in a changing climate
SWM provide expertise, guidance, and act as a critical friend to any private sector organisation, from SMEs to large privates to agricultural businesses, to help recognise and act on the risks posed by climate change.
Resources and guides
SWM have developed free resources and guidance for businesses on climate change adaptation, available below.
Weathering the Storm: a guide to saving and making money in a changing climate
This guide has been produced for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the West Midlands. It will help you to understand how you could be affected by weather, including extreme events, and how you can improve your chances of a quick recovery.

This resource was produced by Sustainability West Midlands as part of a project in collaboration with the Environment Agency in 2023-24.
Weathering the Storm for Agriculture
This practical guide aims to help farmers and land managers become more resilient to extreme weather, better adapted to the changing climate and more attuned to potential new business opportunities that may arise from a warming world.

This resource was produced by Sustainability West Midlands as part of a project in collaboration with the Environment Agency in 2023-24, building on the previous iteration originally published by Climate East Midlands in 2013.
Event summary: Climate Resilient Business
This workshop from SWM in partnership with Unity Trust Bank aimed to help businesses understand how they may be impacted by extreme weather events and how they can enhance their ability to recover quickly. A summary of the event and the slides can be found here.

This was a one-off workshop co-hosted by SWM and Unity Trust Bank. Participants explored how these risks affect infrastructure, productivity, and health, and the importance of linking both climate change mitigation and adaptation.
