Funded Support: Public Sector Decarbonisation

The Midlands Energy Hub (MEH) have received funding to support the decarbonisation of the Public Estate in the Midlands, with a focus on developing a pipeline of projects with robust, fundable / investable business cases.

The MEH is using this funding to arrange for support and modelling tools to be made available on a prioritised basis to help public sector organisations identify energy efficiency/clean heat/renewable generation measures across their own estate. We are aiming to support public sector organisations to build business cases ready to be financed and / or to access future UK government funding streams (i.e. Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund).

To do so, the MEH is in the process of putting the first stage of the support in place as detailed below, the following is subject to change following procurement:

• Ongen – An online feasibility tool to help organisations check the potential of deploying a range of onsite renewable energy generation and storage technologies by producing high quality assessments to support a business case. It can be used to identify energy cost and carbon savings, generate new revenue streams.

• OnEfficiency – An asset management platform used to plan energy performance improvements in commercial and public sector property portfolios. The platform provides a repository of detailed asset energy data, uploaded from the XML data file behind the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for each property. Portfolios are monitored and analysed using a range of dashboard filters and simulation tools to assess risk, identify priority assets and plan retrofit strategies.

• ESOS surveys – These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.

In advance of the project commencing, they are looking to build up a pipeline of potential work with our Public Sector Partners in the Midlands.  If you would be interested in receiving support, please complete the Expression of Interest in attachment and return it to MidlandsEnergyHub@nottinghamcity.gov.uk by the closing Date 25 November 2021.

Midlands Energy Hub will be conducting its first review and prioritisation of Expressions of Interest from Friday 26th November.
