Staffordshire organisations: Help bring beavers to Craddocks Moss!

Can you donate to help bring beavers into a Staffordshire peat bog?

Craddocks Moss is a 47-acre lowland peat bog in North Staffordshire. It’s part of the internationally significant Meres and Mosses wetland network. Past drainage and conifer tree planting damaged the peat here, causing it to release carbon.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust have begun restoring the site, and now they’re planning the final, transformative step: introducing beavers! They’ll be able to naturally engineer wetland recovery, restoring the peat bog and vitally locking in carbon.

They are looking to secure £105,000 of grant funding towards the project and have partnered with SWM member Staffordshire Business & Environment Network (sben) to raise the further £20,000 they need to cover the costs of the beaver enclosure, site infrastructure and ecological monitoring, plus five years of expert-led site management and evaluation.

sben and the Wildlife Trust are looking for any business in Staffordshire to support carbon capture and boost biodiversity. You can donate now, and those who donate will receive many benefits!
