Overview
The WMCA were keen to identify the potential economic impacts that climate change could have in the region should no adaptation take place. This involved quantifying the potential impacts based on looking at future climate scenarios combined with impacts from historical events to identify the potential financial and economic impacts that could befall the WMCA area if climate change takes hold as is expected. The work can help with business planning but also make the case to invest in adaptation measures.
Aims
- To look at the financial impacts recent historical extreme weather events have had on the local economy.
- To look at future scenarios to identify potential future costs to the economy.
- To produce a technical and summary report that showcased the findings of this analysis.
Outputs
The Summary Report has been published by the WMCA and is accessible here.
