Overview
Festival 2022 Ltd appointed SWM as Sustainability Consultants in relation to the delivery of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales from March to December 2022.
We provided expert support to them and the 10 commissions across the delivery of the programme. SWM worked with Festival 2022 Ltd to produce their Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan to demonstrate good environmental practice and solutions; to engage on environmental issues through the commissions, and to leave a positive environmental legacy which will last well beyond 2022.
SWM met regularly with the Festival 2022 Ltd team to discuss progress and next steps in relation to their Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan. SWM provided ‘learning’ sessions on the topics above. Festival 2022’s environmental commitments and outcomes were reflective of the nature of the organisation being an office-based operation with a core team of 60-70 employees.
Each of the 10 commissions held responsibility for their own sustainability and led on this, either with in-house expertise or from a consultant. SWM acted as a ‘critical friend’ and provided support and expertise to each commission on the key environmental issues relevant to their projects and in the development of appropriate action plans. SWM facilitated exchange on environmental good practice, solutions and action amongst the 10 project teams through regular drop-in sessions.
A short film was produced to summarise sustainability at UNBOXED including the reflections of SWM.
