Overview
Shropshire Net Zero Leaders is a fully funded support initiative for businesses in the area who wish to measure and manage their carbon impacts, with a particular focus on cutting emissions along the supply chain. The programme is delivered by The Clean Tech Business Group on behalf of Shropshire Council. SWM were commissioned by The Clean Tech Business Group to provide support including stakeholder engagement and contribution of technical expertise.
Aims
The Shropshire Net Zero Leaders programme provides in-depth and long-term support to businesses in the Shropshire Council area in measuring and cutting carbon. The support comes at no costs to the businesses as the project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The programme addresses all areas of emissions but with a focus on the supply chain as these are typically the largest element of a business’s overall emission, and always the hardest to abate.
Outputs
SWM primarily supported The Clean Tech Business Group with stakeholder engagement to raise awareness of Shropshire Net Zero Leaders throughout our membership and wider stakeholders. SWM also worked with individual organisations selected to receive support from the programme proving site visits and technical advice.
SWM helped to design and deliver the Shropshire Net Zero Leaders Summit held in March 2025 marking the programme’s one-year milestone, bringing together participating businesses at Shrewsbury Town Football Club to share insights, discuss outcomes, and hear from case study speakers which included Dr. Julia Buckley, Labour MP for Shrewsbury, Morris & Company and Arrow County Supplies.
