New Birmingham Device Bank Launched to Tackle Device Poverty

BVSC and ReCogniton Circular isn partnership are announcing a new initiative aimed ending device poverty across Birmingham has launched. Helping bridge the digital divide for those who need access to technology the most.

ReCogniton Circular has announced the opening of the Birmingham Device Bank, providing refurbished laptops to organisations across Birmingham. Devices are donated by local businesses, professionally wiped, refurbished and tested before being supplied to charities, community groups, schools or support organisation in Birmingham who need access to a computer.

Their mission is to end device poverty in Birmingham. Connecting businesses to the community organisation and supporting people facing device poverty.

For businesses wanting to get involved, they provide:

  • Free collection
  • Secure, certified data destruction
  • Environmental impact reports
  • Social value statements
  • Visibility into where the devices go and the impact they make on the lives of the people who receive them

And for community organisations, they:

  • Upgrade, repair, refurbish and test laptops to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Provide ongoing support should something go wrong with a device
