This event was aimed at supporting the health sector to understand how the implementation of sustainable travel initiatives can bring multiple benefits to both the environment and communities, by thinking about staff, patients, visitors, and residents. The event was completed in collaboration with National Express West Midlands, a SWM member and sponsors of our NHS Sustainability Network and the West Midlands Public Health and Sustainability Network. We are very grateful for their support with this event.
- Anna Bright (SWM): Analysis from the latest Roadmap to 2030 Monitoring.
- NHS Case Studies from:
- Fran Silcocks (Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust) and Chris Coyle (Bicycle Mayor of Birmingham): Award winning sustainable travel plans.
- Owain Simpson (University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust): Clean Air Hospital Framework Evaluation.
- Dharel Patel and David Gallagher (National Express West Midlands): Supporting NHS Trusts to shift towards a more sustainable travel operation.
This was then followed by breakout room sessions. These sessions were to facilitate group discussions to understand the support that delegates needed to make their travel options more sustainable, and also understand the existing barriers that limit sustainable travel options. The event concluded with Anna Bright (SWM) and David Gallagher (National Express WM) covering the next steps and closing.
